Hands-on drill and blast engineering within underground operations across WA — blast design, fragmentation and performance improvement. Permanent FIFO role.
About the role
What you will be doing
Our Contracting Division is looking for experienced Drill & Blast Engineers to work hands-on within underground mining operations across Western Australia. Deployed to operating mine sites, you will optimise blast performance, support production targets and improve fragmentation outcomes.
You will manage blast designs and execution, drive operational improvements and provide technical advice to site leadership, with the backing of a Perth-based team of senior engineers and a culture built on Quality First, Professional Growth, Respect, Integrity and Ownership.

The work
Key responsibilities
- Deliver drill and blast engineering support to client operations
- Develop and review drill patterns, blast designs, firing plans and execution strategies
- Monitor blast performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Analyse fragmentation, dilution, overbreak, underbreak, vibration and productivity outcomes
- Collaborate with operations, geology, planning and technical services teams
- Support short and medium-term production planning
- Assist with contractor management and blast execution oversight
- Ensure compliance with safety, statutory and operational requirements
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in blasting efficiency and mine productivity
- Provide technical recommendations and reports to site leadership
About you
Your qualifications & experience
- Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' experience in drill and blast engineering roles
- Strong background in underground mining operations
- Experience with drill and blast design software (Deswik, SHOTPlus, BlastLogic or similar)
- Strong understanding of explosives, blast design principles and mining methods
- Experience analysing blast outcomes and driving performance improvement
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with operational teams and stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Manual C-Class driver's licence
- Full Australian working rights
- Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced site environments
