FAQ

Due diligence, answered

What is technical due diligence in mining?

Technical due diligence is an independent expert assessment of the technical basis of a mining asset — its Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves, mine plan, schedule, costs, infrastructure and assumptions — to confirm that value and risk are properly understood before a transaction, investment or financing decision.

What standards apply to independent technical review?

Public reporting of technical assessments and valuations of mineral assets in Australasia is governed by the VALMIN Code 2015, alongside the JORC Code 2012 for the underlying Resource and Reserve estimates. Our reviews test whether the asset's reported basis actually complies with those codes — classification, modifying factors, Competent Person sign-off — not just whether the numbers look reasonable.

What is included in a mining due diligence report?

An objective review of the resource and reserve basis, mine design and schedule, cost estimates and assumptions, and infrastructure and permitting status — concluding with a ranked register of technical risks and opportunities and a clear view of the value drivers, so the reader knows exactly what would change the investment case.

Who uses due diligence services?

Acquirers, vendors, lenders, investors and boards — anyone who needs an independent, expert view of a mining asset's technical value and risk before committing capital.
